Kigal Water Falls

Kaigal Water Falls, also known as Dumukurallu Water Falls, is a natural, perennial waterfall located in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, within the Koundinya Wildlife Sanctuary. The falls cascade from a height of around 40 feet over rocky terrain, creating several natural ponds at the base. The name Dumukurallu comes from the local Telugu word referring to the sound of falling stones, inspired by the waterfall's roaring noise.

Surrounded by dense forests, the area is rich in biodiversity, featuring exotic birds, wildlife, and various plant species, making it a serene and scenic destination for nature lovers and trekkers. The waterfall, about 2 kilometers from the village of Kaigal, is accessible via a moderately challenging 2-kilometer trek through forested areas. It is especially popular during the monsoon season when the water flow is strongest and most spectacular. The site also attracts visitors for picnicking, photography, and exploring the nearby wildlife sanctuary, offering a peaceful retreat immersed in nature.

There is no official entry fee, and the falls are open year-round, though the monsoon months from June to October provide the best experience. Nearby pilgrimage sites add cultural interest, especially during festivals like Shivratri.
