Kundalpur, located in the Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh, is a significant pilgrimage site for Jains. The Shri Bade Baba Digamber Mandir at Kundalpur is dedicated to Lord Adinath (Rishabhanatha), the first Jain Tirthankara. The temple is also known as the Shri Digamber Jain Siddha Kshetra Kundalpur.
The history of Kundalpur dates back to the 5th-6th century, and it is believed to be the place where Lord Parshwanathji performed his samavsaran (renunciation).
The site is also associated with miraculous events, such as the legend of Mahmud of Ghazni, who tried to chain the idol of Lord Adinath but was thwarted by the emergence of milk and beetles from the idol.
The temple complex includes a 15-foot tall idol of Lord Adinath, which was transferred to a new temple under construction in 2006. The new temple, built in the Nagara architectural style, is one of the tallest Jain temples in the world. The annual fair at Kundalpur, known as the Maha Mahotsav, is held from Maghsudi 11 to Poornima (full moon day).
