Mangad Fort, located in Borwadi near Mashidwadi village in Mangaon taluka of Raigad district, Maharashtra, is a small hill fort that played a key strategic role as an outpost protecting the capital, Raigad Fort, during the Maratha period. Situated about 235 meters above sea level, the fort features remnants such as water tanks carved in rock, a cave that could accommodate around 50 people, and ruins of a few buildings including a Killedar's residence.
There is also a temple dedicated to the goddess Vinzai near the base.
Historically, the fort was used for military training and defense, linked with the Maratha king Shivaji Maharaj's efforts to protect the Swarajya. The fort is known for a recently discovered secret door and offers panoramic views of the Sahyadri range. The surrounding region is characterized by dense greenery and hilly terrain, making it a moderately challenging trek and a site of historical interest that reflects the Maratha military architecture and heritage.
