Marayoor, located in the Devikulam taluk of Idukki district, Kerala, is a scenic town situated about 42 kilometers north of Munnar and stands at around 990 meters above sea level. It is the only place in Kerala with natural sandalwood forests, home to about 65,000 sandalwood trees known for their high quality. Marayoor is an important archaeological site with prehistoric dolmens, burial chambers made of stones, and ancient rock paintings dating back to the Stone Age.
The Pambar River flows through the area, adding to its natural beauty. The region is also famous for its sugarcane plantations and the unique Marayoor jaggery known as "Marayoor Sarkara," prized for its high sugar content.
