The Marine Aquarium and Regional Centre (MARC) in Digha, Purba Medinipur, West Bengal, is the largest inbuilt aquarium in India. Established on July 1, 1989, MARC features three distinct wings: a research center, an aquarium, and a marine museum. The aquarium opened to the public in 2003 and showcases over 500 marine species, including sea anemones, lobsters, sharks, rays, butterflyfishes, sea snakes, and horseshoe crabs.
MARC is dedicated to promoting awareness and conservation of marine biodiversity through educational programs and exhibits. The aquarium is equipped with 22 tanks of 8000 liters each and 2 large tanks of 14000 liters, displaying a diverse range of marine and freshwater species.
