Matcha Nokpante Nokrek National Park

Nokrek National Park, located in the South Garo Hills of Meghalaya, is a treasure trove of natural beauty and biodiversity. Established in 1986, it is part of the Nokrek Biosphere Reserve, which was added to UNESCO's list of Biosphere Reserves in 2009.

The park is situated approximately 2 kilometers from Tura Peak and covers an area of around 47.48 square kilometers. The park is known for its rich flora and fauna, including the rare red panda, Asiatic elephants, and several species of wild cats like the clouded leopard and the majestic tiger.

It also serves as a sanctuary for critically endangered species such as the Slow Loris and the Hoolock Gibbon. The park is home to the mother germoplasm of Citrus indica, also known as Memang Narang, which has led to the establishment of the National Citrus Gene Sanctuary-cum-Biosphere Reserve.
