Milagres Church
The Milagres Church, also known as the Our Lady of Miracles Church, is a historic Roman Catholic Church located in the Hampankatta locality of Mangalore, near Udupi, Karnataka. The church was built in 1680 by Bishop Thomas de Castro, a Theatine from Divar, Goa. It is one of the oldest churches in Dakshina Kannada and has a rich history.
The church was originally constructed at the site of the present-day cemetery. It was rebuilt in its present form in 1881 after the persecution of Mangalorean Christians at Seringapatam ended.
The Milagres parish was elevated to the status of a cathedral church in 2012, serving the Konkani and South Canarese Christian communities.
