Mukteshwar

Mukteshwar is a tranquil hill station located in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand at an elevation of about 2,171 meters (7,500 feet). It is approximately 51 kilometers from Nainital and surrounded by dense coniferous forests and fruit orchards. The area offers stunning panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks, including the Nanda Devi range, and is known for its cool climate, with distinct seasons including cold winters with occasional snowfall and moderate monsoon rains.

Originally developed by the British as a research and education center with the establishment of the Indian Veterinary Research Institute in 1893, Mukteshwar also features an ancient Lord Shiva temple atop a rock that attracts devotees.
