Nandankanan Zoological Park is a renowned zoo and botanical garden located in Baranga village, Odisha, about 10 kilometers south of Cuttack and 10 kilometers north of Bhubaneswar. Established in 1960 and opened to the public in 1979, it is the first zoo in India to join the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) in 2009.
The park spans 437 hectares (1,080 acres) and includes a botanical garden and a sanctuary.
Nandankanan, meaning "The Garden of Heaven," is situated amidst the Chandaka forest and features the 134-acre Kanjia lake. The park is home to a diverse range of animals and plants, including the famous white tigers and melanistic tigers. It also boasts attractions like the White Tiger Safari, Lion Safari, Butterfly Park, and Orchid House.
