Neora Valley National Park

Neora Valley National Park, located in the Kalimpong district of West Bengal, covers an area of about 88 square kilometers. Established in 1986, it is part of the Eastern Himalayas and is a rich biodiversity hotspot known for its pristine, undisturbed natural habitat with rugged hilly terrain and dense forests. The park's landscape includes tropical, subtropical, temperate, and alpine vegetation zones with species like rhododendron, bamboo, oak, ferns, and sal trees. It is home to endangered animals such as the red panda, clouded leopard, Himalayan black bear, musk deer, and various deer species.

Birdlife is abundant with many rare species, making it a paradise for bird watchers. The park borders Sikkim and Bhutan and links with other wildlife sanctuaries, offering a critical habitat for wildlife movement. Its scenic beauty features lush green valleys, bamboo groves, rhododendron canopies, meandering rivers, and snow-capped mountains. Neora Valley is a tranquil spot for nature lovers and trekkers, with much of the park still inaccessible to preserve its virgin wilderness.
