Pabargad
Pabargad Fort, located in Akole taluka of Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra, is a lesser-known fort situated about 50 km from Igatpuri via Bhandardara. The trek to the fort is known to be difficult, passing through dense jungle and shrubs, taking around three hours to reach the top. The fort has rock-cut steps, four water cisterns carved from the rock, and remains of dilapidated buildings.
On the way to the fort, there is a rock-carved sculpture of the god Hanuman, a temple dedicated to Bhairoba, and an idol of Ganesha. Adjacent to the fort are natural caves on a nearby hillock. While not much detailed history of Pabargad Fort is recorded, it stands as a scenic and adventurous site for trekkers and history enthusiasts who explore the Ahmednagar region.
