Parasgad Fort
Parasgad Fort is a historic hill fort situated near Saundatti village in Belagavi (Belgaum) district of Karnataka. Built in the 10th century by the Ratta dynasty, it stands on a hilltop about 500 meters high, overlooking the surrounding plains with steep, rocky, and almost vertical sides. The fort is mostly in ruins but includes a small shrine dedicated to the Hindu deity Maruthi (Hanuman).
A staircase from the fort leads down to Yadravi village, passing by a natural spring called Ramatheertha and a cave with statues of Hindu gods like Rama, Sita, Parashurama, and a Shiva lingam with Nandi. Parasgad Fort reflects the medieval military architecture and offers panoramic views, making it a notable historic and cultural landmark in the region.
