Patta Fort, also known as Vishramgad, is a historic hill fort situated between Nashik and Ahmadnagar in Maharashtra, standing about 1,392 meters (4,567 feet) above sea level. It was part of the Bahmani Sultanate and later controlled by the Nizam of Ahmednagar, Mughals, and Marathas, with notable visits by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj who used it as a resting place.
The fort played a strategic role in regional battles and served as a military stronghold with features like ramparts, water cisterns, caves, and temples including Pattai Devi Mandir and Shri Laxmangiri Maharaj Mandir. Its large plateau offers panoramic views of nearby forts and peaks, and it remains a popular trekking destination due to its historical significance and scenic surroundings.
The fort and its adjoining village, Pattewadi, are culturally rich, with devotees gathering at the shrine during full moon festivals.
