The Poa Mecca Dargah Sarif in Hajo, Kamrup, Assam, is a revered pilgrimage site for Muslims. Located atop the Garurachala Hills, about 32 kilometers west of Guwahati, the dargah is believed to have been built by an Iraqi prince turned preacher, Ghiyasuddin Auliya, in the 12th century.
It is said that Ghiyasuddin brought a lump of earth from Mecca and enshrined it at this spot, giving the site its name "Poa Mecca," meaning "one-fourth of Mecca".
Pilgrims believe that offering prayers at Poa Mecca grants them one-fourth of the spiritual enlightenment that could be gained by visiting Mecca.
The site also attracts Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims, making Hajo a unique place of worship for multiple religions. Every year, thousands of devotees gather here, especially during the months of March and April, to celebrate the Urs festival.
