Pokur

Pokur is a small village located in the Bhamragad tehsil of Gadchiroli district, Maharashtra. It lies about 19 km from the sub-district headquarters of Bhamragad and approximately 180 km from the district headquarters Gadchiroli. The village covers an area of around 736 hectares and has a population of about 104 people, equally divided between males and females.

Almost the entire population belongs to Scheduled Tribes. The literacy rate is low, at around 27%, with male literacy slightly higher than female literacy. Pokur is connected by bus services within a 5 to 10 km range and has access to a railway station beyond 10 km. The local language is Marathi, and the village operates under the governance of the Tekla gram panchayat.

The area is part of a tribal and forested region known for its underdeveloped economy, where farming and forest produce like bamboo and tendu leaves are common.
