Built by King Mahipala of the Kachchhapaghata dynasty around 1090-1093, it is dedicated to Hindu gods Vishnu and Shiva. The larger temple, known as "Sas," was constructed for the queen, while the smaller "Bahu" temple was built for the daughter-in-law, symbolizing the relationship of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.
