Shahi Qila, also known as the Royal Fort, is a historic palace located in Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh, on the banks of the Tapti River. Originally built by the Farooqui rulers around 1500 CE, the fort became famous as the residence of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan during his time as the governor of Burhanpur.

One of the main attractions of Shahi Qila is the royal bath, built for Shah Jahan's wife, Begum Mumtaz Mahal. The bath features domed roofs and is beautifully decorated with paintings on honeycomb work. This hammam is a testament to the luxurious lifestyle and advanced engineering skills of the Mughal era.

Shah Jahan spent considerable time in Burhanpur and established his court here for the first three years of his reign.
