Shree Badrinath Temple

The Shree Badrinath Temple, located in Chamoli, Uttarakhand, is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in India. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the temple is part of the Char Dham pilgrimage circuit and attracts millions of devotees each year.

The temple is situated on the banks of the Alaknanda River, surrounded by the majestic Himalayan mountains, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere.

The temple is open for six months each year, from the end of April to the beginning of November, due to the extreme weather conditions in the region. During this period, the temple hosts various religious ceremonies and festivals, with the most prominent being the Mata Murti Ka Mela, which commemorates the descent of the river Ganges on mother earth.

The architecture of the temple is a blend of traditional and contemporary styles, featuring intricate carvings and designs that depict various aspects of Hindu mythology and philosophy. The temple complex consists of three main structures: the Garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum), the Darshan Mandapa (worship hall), and the Sabha Mandapa (convention hall).

The presiding deity, Lord Badrinath, is represented by a one-foot-high black granite image, considered to be one of the eight self-manifested deities of Vishnu.

The temple is also known for its proximity to the Tapt Kund hot springs, where devotees take a dip before visiting the temple, believing it to purify the soul and body.
