The Shri Ashtalakshmi Temple, also known as the Ashtalakshmi Kovil, is a beautiful Hindu temple located near Elliot's Beach in Besant Nagar, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The temple is dedicated to the goddess Lakshmi and her eight primary forms, known as the Ashtalakshmi, which represent different forms of wealth such as offspring, success, prosperity, wealth, courage, bravery, food, and knowledge.
The temple was constructed on the wishes of Sri Chandrashekarendra Saraswati Swamigal of Kanchi Mutt and was consecrated on April 5, 1976. The temple's architecture is unique, resembling the shape of the sacred syllable "AUM" and spread over three levels, each dedicated to different forms of Goddess Lakshmi.
The temple complex houses nine separate sanctums, including shrines for Gods Hanuman and Ganapathi.
