Shri Uttar Chidambaram Nataraj mandir
The Shri Uttar Chidambaram Nataraj Mandir in Satara, Maharashtra, is a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Nataraja, a manifestation of Lord Shiva performing the cosmic dance. The temple was constructed on the model of the ancient Nataraja temple at Chidambaram in Tamil Nadu. The foundation for the temple was laid in May 1981, and it was consecrated in 1984.
The temple features gopurams (towers) over the four gateways, similar to the original temple in Tamil Nadu, though on a smaller scale. In addition to the main deity, the temple complex includes shrines dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Lord Hanuman, Radha-Krishna, Lord Shiva, the Navagrahas (nine planets), Adi Shankaracharya, and Lord Ayyappa.
The temple is located just off the National Highway NH4, connecting Satara and Solapur. It is managed by the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, and daily worship is performed by Dikshitas from the Chidambaram temple. The temple also runs a Veda Patasala, offering traditional Vedic education.
