Someshwara Temple
The Someshwara Temple, also known as the Kodi Someshwara Temple, is a historic temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, situated to the north of the Mysore Palace. Built in the 13th century in the Chola style, the temple consists of three shrines in three different chambers.
The middle shrine is dedicated to Someshwara, while the shrines on either side are dedicated to Goddess Somasundari, an incarnation of Goddess Parvati, and Lord Narayana. The temple also houses the navagrahas (nine planetary deities).
The temple has played an important role in the Dussera festivities during the reign of Jayachamaraja Wodeyar, and Maharani Vanivilasa Sannidhana contributed significantly to its expansion. The serene and spiritual atmosphere of the temple makes it a popular destination for devotees and visitors alike.
