Sri Rathnagiriswarar Temple
The Sri Rathnagiriswarar Temple is located at 6th Cross Street, Besant Nagar, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, who is worshiped here as Rathnagiriswarar, and Parvati Devi as Aralakesi Amman.
The temple has a rich history dating back to 1968, when the residents of Besant Nagar sought the blessings of Sri Abhinava Vidyatheertha Maha Sannidhanam to build a place of worship. Following his guidance, a Mahalingam was found on the shores of the Bay of Bengal and installed in the temple on Maha Sivarathri day, March 7, 1970.
The temple is known for its unique five-tiered Swami Vimanam, three-tiered Ambal Vimanam, and two-tiered Sri Ramar Vimanam. It celebrates various festivals like Pradhosam, Sri Rama Navami, Hanumath Jayanthi, and Maha Shivarathri in a grand manner.
