Thane Creek is an estuary of the Arabian Sea and one of the two main distributaries of the Ulhas River, located in the Konkan division of Maharashtra, India. It forms the eastern boundary of Salsette Island and separates the island from the mainland of Konkan.
The creek is known for its rich biodiversity and is home to various avian species, including flamingos and other migratory birds. The area has been designated as a protected Ramsar site since 2022.
The Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary, located along the western bank of the creek, is Maharashtra's second notified marine sanctuary and supports over 130,000 flamingos.
