The Hajrat Tipu Sultan's (R.A.) Tomb
The Hajrat Tipu Sultan's Tomb, also known as the Gumbaz, is a majestic mausoleum located in Srirangapatna, near Mysuru, Karnataka. Built by Tipu Sultan in 1784 to house the graves of his father Hyder Ali and his mother Fakr-Un-Nisa, the tomb also became Tipu Sultan's final resting place after his death in the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War in 1799.
The Gumbaz is an excellent example of Persian architecture, featuring a large rectangular garden called Lal Bagh, with a path leading to the mausoleum. The structure is supported by 36 black granite pillars and has an east-facing entrance.
The interior walls are painted with tiger stripes, a symbol associated with Tipu Sultan.
