Tomb of Susanna Anna Maria
The Tomb of Susanna Anna Maria, also known as Saat Shaheber Bibir Kobor (Grave of the Wife of Seven Europeans), is located in Chinsurah, Hooghly, West Bengal. This historical monument, dating back to 1809, is a beautiful example of Indo-Dutch architecture. The tomb is a two-storied structure made of white marble, with an arched entrance and a dome atop it.
Susanna Anna Maria Verkerk, a Dutch lady, was married to Pieter Brueys, a merchant and director of the Dutch Administration, and later to Thomas Yeats, an Englishman.
The tomb has become a local legend, with stories suggesting she had seven husbands who mysteriously died. Her story inspired Ruskin Bond's story "Susanna's Seven Husbands," which was later adapted into the Bollywood film "Saat Khoon Maaf" starring Priyanka Chopra.
