Trineshwara Temple
The Trineshwara Temple, also known as Trinesvaraswamy Temple, is one of the oldest shrines in Mysuru, Karnataka. Located inside the Mysore Palace Complex, the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its rich history and beautiful architecture.
According to legend, the temple was consecrated by Lord Shiva in response to the penance performed by the sage Trinabindu, and the lingam here is known as Trinesvara or Trinayanesvara, meaning "three-eyed god".
The temple features a prakara (an enclosure) with a main entrance or mahadwara, which originally had a huge gopura (tower) that was ruined in the 18th century. Inside the temple, there are several small shrines dedicated to other gods and goddesses, including Suryanarayana, Parvati, Chamundeswari, and Shankaracharya.
The temple also has a navaranga with two entrances and a metallic image of Lord Shiva flanked by statues of Lord Ganesha.
