The Vijay Stambha, or Tower of Victory, is a magnificent monument located within the Chittorgarh Fort in Rajasthan. Built by Maharana Kumbha in 1448, it commemorates his victory over Mahmud Khilji of Malwa in the Battle of Sarangpur. This nine-story tower stands at a height of approximately 37 meters (122 feet) and is an outstanding example of Rajput architecture.
The tower is adorned with intricate carvings of Hindu deities, inscriptions, and scenes from epics like the Ramayana and Mahabharata. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and its topmost story features an image of the Jain Goddess Padmavati, showcasing the religious pluralism of the era.
Visitors can climb the 157 steps to the top for breathtaking views of the fort and surrounding areas.
