Vijaygarh Fort is a historic fort located about 30 kilometers southeast of Robertsganj in Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh, situated on the Kaimur hills. Believed to have origins dating back to the 5th century, it was renovated in 1040 AD by Maharaja Vijay Pal, a Rajput king. The fort is known for its natural defensive features, surrounded by steep hills and dense greenery, with several perennial ponds inside its premises that never dry up.
It contains ancient rock inscriptions, cave paintings, temples, and ruins, including the Rang Mahal palace associated with Princess Chandrakanta. The tomb of Hazrat Meeran Shah Baba is also located here, alongside historical remnants from various ruling dynasties.
