Wellington Lodge
Wellington Lodge, located next to the KSRTC Bus stand in Mysuru, Karnataka, is one of the earliest colonial structures built in the city. More than 200 years old, this historic building was once the residence of Arthur Wellesley, who later became the Duke of Wellington, from 1799 to 1801.
The lodge features a simple yet elegant design, with a large central hall and several smaller rooms.
Today, Wellington Lodge houses the Southern Regional Centre of the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (National Museum of Mankind), which showcases traditional Indian art and culture through various exhibitions and interactive programs.
The expansive courtyard of the lodge has been converted into an open museum, displaying massive terracotta sculptures and folk paintings. The first floor houses a gallery of modern and vintage paintings, offering visitors a glimpse into India's rich artistic heritage.
