Yeshwantgad
Yeshwantgad, also known as Yashwantgad Fort, is a historic coastal fort located in Redi village, Sindhudurg district, Maharashtra, near the Maharashtra-Goa border. Built during the Maratha Empire in the 17th century, the fort sits on a small hill overlooking the Arabian Sea and the nearby creeks.
It covers an area of about three hectares and features two levels: the larger Lower Fort near the creek with a freshwater well and the smaller Upper Fort used for maritime surveillance. The fort is surrounded by a 20-foot-deep dry moat and has four strong gates, many buildings, and bastions still in good condition.
Dense vegetation and tree roots have overtaken parts of the fort, creating a striking blend of nature and ancient architecture. Yeshwantgad offers panoramic views of the sea, creeks, and the surrounding landscape, making it both a significant historical landmark and a serene destination for visitors.
