Indian Rider Heartbroken After Motorbike Stolen in Nottingham, UK

An Indian motorcyclist on a round-the-world journey has been left devastated after his bike was stolen in the UK.

Yogesh Alekari, 33, had already travelled 15,000 miles (24,140 km) across 17 countries since starting his trip from Mumbai on 1 May. On Thursday, while visiting Wollaton Park in Nottingham, his KTM 390 Adventure bike was taken, along with almost all his belongings.

Yogesh, who shares his travels with more than 180,000 Instagram followers and 16,000 Facebook followers, said the theft was “painful” and left him heartbroken. His bike stored valuable items, worth over £15,000, including his MacBook, spare phone, two cameras, cash, passport, clothes, and other travel gear.

Explaining the incident, he said: “I parked the bike at Wollaton Park, locked it, and since it was a busy area with children around, I felt it was safe. I went for breakfast across the road, but when I came back within an hour, everything was gone.”

Video taken by a visitor shows his motorbike being ridden away, flanked by two mopeds.

The theft has left Yogesh stranded with only the clothes he was wearing. Before this, he had successfully travelled through Nepal, Iran, China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and several European countries including Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, and France. His plan was to head into Africa next, riding from Spain to Morocco, then down the west coast to Cape Town, before returning to India.

“This bike was not just a motorcycle—it was my home and my dream. I’ve been through so many countries where people said it wasn’t safe, but I never faced anything like this until now,” he said.

Yogesh contacted Nottinghamshire Police immediately after the theft but said no officer came to the scene. Instead, he was given a crime number and told he would be called back, which never happened.

Police later confirmed they are carrying out inquiries to find the stolen bike. Sgt Daniel Sheasby said: “We understand how upsetting this is for the bike owner and we are doing everything we can to recover the property.”

Yogesh is now trying to figure out his next steps, determined not to give up on his dream of riding around the world.
