Charaideo is a district located in the state of Assam, India. It was officially declared as a district on 15th August 2015. The district headquarters is situated in the town of Sonari.

It is named after the ancient capital of the Ahom Kingdom, Charaideo, which was established by the first Ahom king, Chaolung Sukapha, in the 13th century. The district is home to the Charaideo Maidams, which are ancient burial grounds of the Ahom kings and nobles.
