Faizabad (Ayodhya) is a historical and religious city in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is located on the banks of the Saryu river, about 130 km east of Lucknow, the state capital. Faizabad was the first capital of the Nawabs of Awadh, a princely state that ruled over a large part of northern India from the 18th to the 19th century.
Faizabad has many monuments and buildings that reflect the culture and architecture of the Nawabs, such as the Tomb of Bahu Begum, Gulab Bari, and Fort Calcutta.
