Kaushambi district is located in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. It is named after the ancient city of Kaushambi, which was an important center of Buddhism in ancient times.

Geographically, Kaushambi district is situated in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh, bordered by the Yamuna River on the west and the state of Bihar on the east. The district covers an area of approximately 1,900 square kilometers.
