Tamenglong district is located in the state of Manipur in northeastern India. It is situated in the southern part of Manipur and shares its borders with other districts like Senapati, Ukhrul, and Churachandpur. The district headquarters is also named Tamenglong.

Tamenglong district is known for its picturesque landscapes, rich biodiversity, and cultural heritage. The district is predominantly inhabited by various indigenous communities, including the Zeliangrong Nagas, Kukis, and Tangkhul Nagas.
