Ambedkar Memorial Park, also known as Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Sthal, is a grand public memorial located in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Dedicated to B. R. Ambedkar, the first law minister of India and a champion of social justice, the park also honors the legacies of Jyotirao Phule, Narayana Guru, Birsa Munda, Shahuji Maharaj, and Kanshi Ram.
The memorial spans 108 acres and features 124 monumental elephant statues, symbolizing strength and resilience. The Ambedkar Stupa, the heart of the memorial, houses a bronze statue of Ambedkar, modeled after the Abraham Lincoln sculpture at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.. The base of the statue is inscribed with the words: "My struggle of life is my only message.".
Constructed using red sandstone from Rajasthan, the park was developed under the leadership of Mayawati, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The foundation stone was laid in 1995, and after multiple renovations, the memorial was officially inaugurated on April 14, 2008, coinciding with Ambedkar’s birth anniversary.
