Assam State Zoo-cum-Botanical Garden, located in Kamrup Metropolitan district, Guwahati, Assam, is the largest zoo and botanical garden in Northeast India, sprawling over 175 hectares (432 acres).
Established in 1958 within the Hengrabari Reserved Forest, it houses more than 1,125 animals, birds, and reptiles representing over 115 species, including rare and endangered species such as the one-horned Indian rhinoceros, Bengal tiger, golden langur, hoolock gibbon, and clouded leopard. Alongside its animal exhibits, the botanical garden spreads across 82 hectares and features diverse plant species, including orchids native to the region.
