Badal Mahal
Badal Mahal, also known as the Palace of Clouds, is a stunning palace located on the banks of the Gaib Sagar Lake in Dungarpur, Rajasthan. Built by Maharawal Gopinath in the late 17th century, the palace is an exquisite example of Rajputana decor combined with Mughal architectural elements.
The palace features two stages, three domes, and a veranda, with the ground floor and verandah constructed by Maharawal Gopinath and the first floor and domes added by Maharawal Punjraj.
The palace is constructed using Dawra Stones and is known for its beautiful balconies, intricate carvings, and stunning murals. In the evening, the palace is illuminated with colorful lights, creating a spectacular sight, especially when a dancing image is reflected on the lakebed.
Badal Mahal was originally built as a leisure home for state guests and later served as a camping palace for the Chief of Army Staff.
