It serves multiple purposes, including irrigation and hydroelectricity, with an installed capacity of 16 MW.
The reservoir created by the dam covers an area of 31.9 square kilometers (12.3 square miles) and has a total capacity of 666 million cubic meters (23.5 billion cubic feet). The dam also features an automatic spillway with a capacity of 1600 cubic meters per second.
