Birsa Munda Athletics Stadium (Athletics)

Birsa Munda Athletics Stadium in Ranchi, Jharkhand, is a modern sports venue mainly used for athletics and football. It has a seating capacity of about 35,000 spectators and features a 9-lane synthetic track and an 8-lane warm-up track, both built to international standards. The stadium has a unique dust- and fire-proof roof made from imported polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) material, providing weather protection and requiring minimal maintenance.

Designed with accessibility in mind, it includes 12 double lifts and wheelchair-friendly pathways up to the upper tiers. The stadium also has facilities such as air-conditioned changing rooms, high mast lighting for night events, media centers, and multiple lounges and dormitories for athletes and officials. It was the site for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2011 National Games of India and is part of a larger sports complex in the area.

Its architectural design, inspired by futuristic elements, includes 62 elliptical pylon columns around the structure, giving it a distinctive appearance. This stadium stands as a significant hub for sports in Jharkhand, supporting both national and international events with state-of-the-art infrastructure.
