Located 6 kilometers from the district headquarters on Sedam Road, near Gulbarga University, the complex spans 18 acres and features a main building, a meditation center, and a Lord Buddha chaitya (temple) on the ground floor.
The 70-foot-high dome, built in traditional Buddhist architectural style, is adorned with marble tiles and an ornamental spire made of panchaloha, symbolizing spiritual victory. Surrounding the complex are four 48-foot-tall Ashoka pillars, honoring Emperor Ashoka’s contributions to Buddhism.
The Buddha Vihar was inaugurated in 2007 and serves as a center for Buddhist teachings, meditation, and cultural exchange. It incorporates architectural influences from Sanchi, Sarnath, Ajanta, and Nagpur, making it a unique representation of Buddhist heritage.
The prayer hall, spanning 15,625 square feet, features 284 intricately carved blocks, each depicting elements from renowned Buddhist sites such as Ajanta, Ellora, Bodh Gaya, and Sarnath.
