Flora Fountain
Flora Fountain is an architecturally significant heritage monument located at Hutatma Chowk in the Fort business district of South Mumbai, Maharashtra. Built in 1864, the fountain is an exquisite example of Neo-Classical and Gothic Revival styles, sculpted in imported Portland stone.
Designed by Richard Norman Shaw and executed by engineer James Forsythe, the fountain was originally intended to be named after Sir Bartle Frère, the then Governor of Bombay, but was later dedicated to the Roman goddess Flora.
The structure stands at the southern end of Dadabhai Naoroji Road, a historic avenue that was developed after the demolition of the old Mumbai Fort in 1860.
