Gorokhia Gosair Than is a revered religious site in Barpeta, Assam, associated with Shrimanta Sankardeva, the 15th-century saint and social reformer.
The Than was established by Narayan Das Thakur Ata, a disciple of Sankardeva, and is believed to have been founded by cowherds (Gorokhia), which inspired its name. The architecture of the Than closely resembles the Kirtanghar of Barpeta Satra, another significant Vaishnavite monastery in the region.
The site spans 25 bighas and hosts the Doul festival annually with great enthusiasm and grandeur. Visitors can explore nearby religious sites such as Patbaushi Satra and Chinpara Vithi, which add to the spiritual significance of the area. The Than is located about 32 km from Barpeta city, and the best way to reach it is by cab.
