Hulikal is a village in the Hosanagara taluk of Shivamogga (Shimoga) district in Karnataka, located in the Western Ghats region. It is well known for its heavy rainfall, often surpassing other wet places in Karnataka, earning it the reputation of being one of the "rain capitals" of the state.
Hulikal ghat or Balebare ghat is the mountain range around the village, connecting coastal Udupi district with Shivamogga district. The area is characterized by dense forests, waterfalls, and vibrant nature, making it a scenic spot especially during the monsoon season from May to November when rainfall is extremely heavy.
Nearby landmarks include the Mani dam reservoir and Savehoklu reservoir. Hulikal has an elevation of about 600 meters and is accessible from the city of Mangalore, located 123 kilometers away.
