Huthridurga
Huthridurga, also known as Uttari Betta, is a fortified hill and village located in Kunigal taluk of Tumkur district, Karnataka, about 65 km west of Bengaluru. The hill rises to about 1,142 meters and features the ruins of an old fort built by Kempegowda in the 16th century.
The fort played a significant role during Tipu Sultan's resistance against the British until it was captured in 1791. The site includes eight gateways, temples dedicated to Shiva and Hanuman, and a water spring named Dodda Done at the summit. Huthridurga, considered one of the nine "Nava Durgas" around Bengaluru, offers a popular trekking destination with panoramic views and historical remains. The nearby villages and temples add cultural significance to the area.
