Kalavantin Durg, also known as Kalavantinicha Sulka, is a 2,250 ft high summit located in the Western Ghats in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, near the Prabalgad Fort. It is known for its steep and challenging climb, featuring rock-cut steps that make it a popular destination for adventure enthusiasts.
The fort is believed to be built for a queen named Kalavantin in the 15th century, around the same time as the neighboring Prabalgad Fort. The summit offers panoramic views of the surrounding region, including the Mumbai-Pune expressway and the Kudavli and Ulhas rivers.
The trek to Kalavantin Durg begins at Thakurwadi and takes you through lush green trails to the Prabalmachi Plateau, from where the track to the pinnacle diverges.
