Lingambudhi Lake
Lingambudhi Lake, located in Sriramapura about 8 kilometers from the heart of Mysuru, Karnataka, is one of the few surviving water bodies in the city. Built in 1828 under the supervision of Mummadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar, the lake was originally intended to provide irrigation facilities to the surrounding agricultural lands.
Over the years, it has become a haven for nature lovers and bird watchers.
The lake is surrounded by lush greenery and is home to a rich biodiversity, including over 250 species of birds. It is a popular spot for observing migratory birds from Central Asia and Eastern Europe, especially during the migratory seasons in September and March-April.
Some of the common birds spotted here include White Ibis, Open-bill Storks, Little Cormorants, Kingfishers, Spoonbills, Egrets, and River Terns.
