Maliabad Fort
The Maliabad Fort, also known as Malliabad Fort, is located about 5 kilometers from Raichur, Karnataka. Built in 1294 A.D. by the Kakatiyas of Warangal, the fort has historical significance and is associated with the Vijayanagara Empire.
During the Battle of Raichur in 1520 A.D., Krishnadevaraya, the emperor of Vijayanagara, stayed here with his army.
The fort houses a ruined Vishnu temple and a pair of life-sized elephants carved in white granite, which are now protected historical monuments. These elephants were initially placed in front of the Vishnu temple and later adorned the gateway of the fort.
