Mangi-Tungi

Mangi-Tungi in Nashik, Maharashtra, is a prominent twin-peaked mountain revered as a significant Digambar Jain pilgrimage site located about 125 kilometers from Nashik city. The twin peaks, Mangi and Tungi, rise over 4,300 feet above sea level and are connected by a plateau. This sacred site is known for its ancient temples, caves, and numerous carved idols of Jain Tirthankaras, some dating back centuries.

The area is spiritually significant as it is considered a Siddha Kshetra, a place associated with enlightenment and liberation. One of its notable features is the 108-foot tall monolithic statue of Lord Rishabhdev, recognized as the tallest Jain idol in the world. Visiting Mangi-Tungi involves climbing around 3,500 steps amidst scenic and tranquil surroundings, and it draws many pilgrims and tourists, especially during annual festivals held in the months of September and October.

The site also offers basic amenities but is generally remote, requiring advance planning for accommodation and supplies. Mangi-Tungi stands as both a spiritual haven and a remarkable example of religious art and architecture in the region.
