The New Saraighat Bridge, also called the 2nd Saraighat Bridge, is a beam bridge in Kamrup, Assam, that spans the Brahmaputra River, connecting Pandu in Guwahati on the south bank to Amingaon on the north bank.
Construction began in 2007 and was completed in 2016, with the bridge inaugurated on January 28, 2017. The bridge is approximately 1.49 kilometers long and 12.9 meters wide, featuring three lanes for motor vehicles. It was constructed to ease traffic on the older Saraighat Bridge and improve connectivity between the northern and southern parts of Guwahati city.
The project cost around Rs 475 crore and was built by Gammon India Limited. The New Saraighat Bridge is a vital infrastructure element supporting the movement of people and goods across the Brahmaputra, contributing significantly to the region's transport network.
